Microbial fertilizer
Fertilizers are essential substances in agricultural production, providing plants with the nutrients they need to grow. There are many different types of fertilizers, each with its own unique characteristics and applications. Today, we’d like to share the main characteristics of microbial fertilizers.
Microbial fertilizers, commonly known as “microbial agents,” are auxiliary fertilizers produced by isolating beneficial microorganisms from the soil and then selectively breeding and propagating them.
Through the metabolic activities of the microorganisms they contain, these fertilizers increase the supply of plant nutrients in the soil and the growing environment. They also produce plant growth hormones to promote plant growth and development, inhibit the activity of harmful microorganisms, and enhance plants’ disease resistance, thereby achieving the goals of increasing yields and improving product quality.
The effectiveness of microbial fertilizers primarily depends on the quantity and activity of the microorganisms in the formulation. When applied, their effectiveness is also influenced by external environmental factors such as light, temperature, moisture, pH, and organic matter content.
Microbial fertilizers primarily provide beneficial microbial colonies rather than mineral nutrients; they are used in small quantities, typically 500–1,000 grams per mu.
Due to limitations in microbial activity, the shelf life of microbial fertilizers is generally 3 months to 1 year. Furthermore, since microorganisms cannot be observed with the naked eye, the quality of microbial fertilizers can only be determined through instrumental analysis.
